Riviera Queen and Medica Pomposa:

The Experience of De Berardinis Company

The De Berardinis Cesare company was founded in 1979 in Pianella (Pescara), thanks to the work and passion for agriculture of Enrico and Daniela.

The company began its livestock activity with 20 Marchigiana cows and 24 hectares of land, half of which was cultivated with a mixed meadow to harvest hay for the animals in the barn, and the other half with durum wheat.

In 2008, with the entry of Cesare into the business, the company shifted to fattening beef cattle and began considering how to increase forage production through the use of mixtures to enhance yield per hectare and start commercializing hay.

This year also marks the beginning of the collaboration with Tecnozoo.

The first consultations and products purchased, starting with powdered milk for fattening calves, took place.

In 2015, Cesare and Enrico decided to try a mixture designed by Tecnozoo’s technicians to achieve the finest and highest quality product possible. The following year, in addition to confirming the use of the mixture of ryegrass and soft wheat with small modifications to improve the already positive performance of the previous year’s mixture, they chose to plant 10 hectares of Riviera Queen alfalfa.

Over the years, the company has expanded, and the number of fattening cattle has increased.

Today, De Berardinis Company has the following crops:

  • 30 hectares cultivated with ryegrass and soft wheat mixture, used on the farm and partly sold in the area.
  • 43 hectares cultivated with Riviera Queen alfalfa and Medica Pomposa alfalfa.
  • 30 hectares of DURUM WHEAT, delivered to De Cecco for flour production.
  • 20 hectares of barley for beer production.
